Review of Away Resort
A scenic gem on Koh Kood
Review of Away Resort
On the bridge you are greeted by the most smiling and sweet staff, who help carry your luggage, first to the reception where you get a nice welcome drink, and then on to your bungalow.
We were very excited to stay at Away Resort.
We had booked a Bungalow and it was more than lovely – not least the location. The view from the small terrace was phenomenal and we actually had 2 terraces – one in front of the bungalow and one next to it.
The terrace next to the bungalow was a smaller chill-out area with table and chairs, sofa, drying rack as well as a bookcase with some nips.
The room was beautifully furnished with ceiling to kip, 2 double beds, large decorative mosquito nets, beautiful dark plank floors, tables, chairs and more. But nothing could surpass the stunning views.
A terrace where you can sit for hours in total tranquility and just enjoy the garden and the view.
The garden with the small huts at Away Resort (affiliate link)
All along the garden there is a wooden boardwalk parallel to the water and for every 100 meters there are small huts with bast roofs, pillows and a small table. From here you have a beautiful view to the beach opposite.
Away Resort has a small pool – it’s not big, but nice to chill in, and ideal for children.
Opposite the pool you’ll find Away Resort‘s small activity hut. Here you can borrow kayaks, paddle boards etc. free of charge. Grab a kayak or take a short swim to the beach on the other side.
Away Resort doesn’t have a real beach, but it doesn’t matter as the beach opposite is very nice and it doesn’t take more than approx. 1 min to swim there.
While we were at Away Resort there was a small orange plane on the beach, a plane that had been forgotten after a movie shooting. Apparently it’s removed now.
At the end of the garden facing the main road, there’s a small massage house. In off-season while we were there, you had to pre-book time if you needed treatment.
On the other side of the road, you’ll find Away Resort‘s café / bar – where, if you need a little more action – you can play some pool.
Away Resort restaurant is located next to reception. An area also with a small bar and small cozy corners.
From the restaurant and bar you get a great view and are greeted only by sweet and smiling people.
Lunch in the restaurant
Fine dining is served in the restaurant and fine cocktails are served at the bar – however, do not arrive late for breakfast if you want to be assured of a large selection of food and cold drinks.
Arrange a tour around the island
Since there is no public transport on Koh Kood, we arranged with the front desk a 2 hour “sightseeing tour” around the island. The front desk gave us a map where we marked the places we were recommended to see.
The driver couldn’t speak a word of English, but fortunately I was able to show him the map, but I also think the receptionist had informed him where we were going.
A great trip where we visited old fishing villages, a waterfalls and pristine beaches
Our driver is waiting patiently for us to explore one of the deserted beaches
I highly recommend that you arrange a tour around the island – especially if you are traveling with children. At the reception, they are very helpful to recommend places to experience.
Our Review of Away Resort
We had 2 nights at Away Resort and everything worked perfectly. The area is beautiful and completely quiet – almost meditative.
Away Resort is absolutely ideal for guests who want peace and tranquility in stunning surroundings. However, it must be said that some places the hotel begins to look a bit worn out – I hope it gets fixed before it gets worse.
We would love to come back and stay at the hotel again.
