Review of Nora Beach Resort & Spa

Nora Beach Resort & Spa (affiliate link) is a small paradise located at the North part of Chaweng Beach.

The location is in a small bay and therefore away from Chaweng Beach’s area of tourism and noise.

The fact that this resort is 4 star is a mystery to me, the hotel is definitely 5 stars worthy.

We were invited to stay at Nora Beach Resort for 3 days, to focus on their amazing pool villas which are especially suited for families.

Pool Villa

We were invited to stay at Nora Beach Resort for 3 days, to focus on their amazing pool villas which are especially ideal for families.

Pool Villa

It was our first time staying in a pool villa and we were anxious to see whether it’s worth having your own pool, when the hotel also offers an excellent, large shared pool by the beach.

After quick check-in and a refreshment, we were followed to our villa.

A beautiful villa set in peaceful surroundings in beautiful and well maintained tropical gardens. The villa was surrounded by a wooden terrace with green plants, flowers and trees, sunbeds and a shower area.

The villa was completely secluded and with entrance through a charming little wooden “gate”.

In the living room of the villa, my son had been given a nice queen size bed, which was in no way disturbing or took up too much space.

The living room had direct access to the terrace on one side and the pool on to the other. The decor was tasteful with furniture, TV, minibar, Tea and coffee making facilities, desk with information on Samui sights and ample closet space

The bedroom, which also had a door to the terrace, was with its own a / c, TV and a nice big bed with comfortable mattress and nice soft linens.

The hallway to the bathroom was one large closet wall with plenty of room for those who want to put all their clothes on shelves, drawers or hangers.

In addition, of course there were robes, slippers, a basket filled with beach towels for the patio and a safety box.

The bathroom was definitely in a class of its own. The entire back wall was large windows to the green and secluded garden. A large bathtub in the middle with shower on one side and toilet on the other.

Especially the small make-up table was a good detail that was used extensively.

Pool area

Walking along the small paths down to the beach, you reach the Nora Beach Resort‘s large lagoon pool. Coming from the small paths and down a few steps, you are greeted by the most beautiful views of the pool, beach and palm trees.

An amazing pool with swim-up bar, a small area for children as well as a small spa pool. All around, there are sunbeds with mattresses and umbrellas. In the small shed by the pool you can borrow kayaks and head out on a rowing trip to the small island, located within 5-10 minutes away from the beach.

A beautiful and almost deserted sandy beach is located up to the pool. Only a few 100 meters from the beach there are reefs. I imagine that when there are reefs, there will also be something to look at. Unfortunately, we hadn’t brought our own snorkeling gear and therefore couldn’t explore it on a snorkling trip.

I have suggested Nora Beach Resort to acquire some snorkeling equipment that can be borrowed / rented in the small shed.

Prasuthon Restaurant

Nora Beach Resort’s restaurant, called Prasuthon, is located right next to the beach.

Our first evening at Nora Beach Resort started with a drink at the bar and then dinner at the restaurant. We ordered 4-5 different dishes to share.

I was excited about the quality of the food, as my experience unfortunately is that often food at better hotels doesn’t always match my expectations.

Fortunately, we weren’t disappointed here either. Eating at Prasuthon was an unexpectedly good experience.

Each dish was extremely tasteful, delicate and beautifully arranged. There were plenty of fresh ingredients and spices, and the food was nicely seasoned so every detail could be tasted.

The breakfast buffet was also very delicious with a large selection of fruits, breads, eggs as you prefer, Asian dishes etc.

All day, dishes could be ordered from the menu and at a fair price levels.

Floating Lunch

Why get up and get dressed to walk the long road (approx. 1-200 m) down to the Prasuthon restaurant when you can have your lunch served in the pool of your villa?

We ordered our “Floating Lunch” – food and drinks – already at dinner the day before. It can also be ordered from the “roomservice” card in the villa.

As agreed at 2pm, our “gate bell” rang and 2 smiling waiters came with a tray to the pool where they nicely arranged our lunch.

It was super cool, and a pleasure to see how the details of ice bucket, lemons, umbrellas for decoration etc. were taken into account.

It was really nice just being the 3 of us and not having to leave the villa to go somewhere else to eat. The food was – as in the restaurant – tasty and nicely prepared.

The food was delivered in a small car so the warm dishes would stay warm and the cool drinks cold.

A few hours later, the tray was retrieved again.

I can only say, try it – but standing in the water eating requires you to be taller than 1.60 m.

Anodas Spa experiences

When staying at a Spa resort, getting a treatment is a must. On our last day at Nora Beach Resort, I visited the Spa.

From the many treatments, I chose a top to toe relax oil massage incl. yogurt scrub & honey facial treatment.

Wow it was absolutely amazing. First, the whole body was thoroughly scrubbed in yogurt – it’s recommended to get the treatment BEFORE you have been fried in the sun.

Afterwards, I was taken to an outdoor shower area to rinse off all the dead skin cells and the scrub. With baby skin all over my body, I got a great top to toe massage and finally a honey facial treatment.

Approx 90 min. later I could leave the spa as a newborn – at least mentally and skin-wise. An absolutely wonderful treatment, performed extremely competently and with delicious natural products.

Treat yourself to a few hours of self-pampering, your skin and psyche will love it.

Here you can read about the different treatments and see offers

The location of Nora Beach Resort & Spa

Located in the northernmost of Chaweng Beach and in a small bay, Nora Beach Resort is delightfully peaceful and only with a few other resorts as neighbors.

Nora Beach Resort is located on a street only with a few supermarkets and shops. It’s definitely not a shopping street.

Nora Beach Resort offers a free shuttle bus to Chaweng Beach, otherwise you can take a taxi or a songthaew (the red pick-up taxis) to the more touristy areas where the range of restaurants and shops is far greater.

Is it worth booking a pool villa?

There are great benefits to stay in a villa with its own pool – the concept of “it’s just to sleep” disappears with a pool villa. At least we spent far more time together in the villa than we would normally do in a hotel room.

It’s amazing just being able to be yourself and having it all to yourself. Real family time. Our terrace and pool were used extensively and at all times of the day.

We only used the large pool by the beach a few times, as we would much rather use our own pool.

If you are a family, a pool villa is absolutely perfect. I clearly remember when my kids were young and had to sleep in the afternoon. Then I had to sit in our room and just wait for them to finish their nap.

Here you can just put them into bed and enjoy a few hours of silence on a sun bed or in the pool while they are sleeping.

I have become a big fan of pool villas as I think you really get value for money.

Our Review of Nora Beach Resort & Spa

Our review of Nora Beach Resort is probably one of the best we’ve written – and it’s not because we were invited (our reviews are always based on our personal experiences).

The resort is truly lovely with well kept beautiful villas and nice tropical gardens.

The resort is very clean all over incl. the pools, the beach and ocean. The staff is extremely service minded and smiling. And it’s wonderful still to find such unspoilt areas on Koh Samui.

We found nothing at Nora Beach Resort & Spa (affiliate link) which we think could be better or different.

Travel Tips

  • Nora Beach Resort is ideal if you are looking for a quiet paradise. A pool villa in particular, is just an added luxury that you can’t imagine before staying in one.
  • Bring snorkeling gear, I’m sure there will be something to look at on the reef.
  • Nora Beach Resort also offers villas without pool and deluxe rooms. We stayed in an Private Pool Villa and our review is therefore based on this.
  • The spa is wonderful – pamper yourself, get a treatment .
  • Nora Beach Resort also offers Thai cooking school

  • In terms of price, Nora is actually cheaper than many resorts with an inferior and / or same standard.
