Review of U Sukhumvit Bangkok
Great hotel with rooftop pool and delicious breakfast buffet
We booked U Sukhumvit Bangkok (affiliate link) primarily because of their 24 hour policy. We had a flight home at midnight, which normally would have meant that we had to check out at 12 o’clock.
At U Sukhumvit Bangkok you have your room for 24 hours and when we checked in at 9.30 pm so we had the room until 9.30 pm the next evening. Brilliant when you have a late flight and you can keep your room all day.
U Sukhumvit Bangkok is located on a side street of the very large and bustling Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok.
Review of U Sukhumvit Bangkok
We arrived from Koh Samui to Don Muang Airport and the trip to the hotel took approx. 35-40 min. and cost approx. 300-400 baht by taxi.
Entrance to U Sukhumvit Bangkok
Usually I spend a lot of time finding hotels in Bangkok – there are many to choose from. At U Sukhumvit Bangkok (affiliate link) I booked reasonably quickly and only 1-2 days in advance. Thus it was a pleasant surprise to arrive at a really nice hotel that exceeded all expectations.
The reception was stylish with colorful furniture and green plants.
The room – Executive Corner Room
After a quick check-in, we were followed to our room on the 6th floor. We were given a “tour” and were informed about the many opportunities the hotel offers. To welcome us, we were free to choose any beverage in the fridge.
A really nice room.
The room had a good size and furnished with a large king size bed with comfortable mattresses and lovely soft duvets. A small area with chairs, table and views of skyscrapers from ceiling to floor windows.
3 large wardrobes including a safety box, a small desk corner with, among other things, city brochures, a full fridge, tea & coffee brewing facilities as well as chips and bottles of water.
The nicest thing, though, was the bathroom. A bathroom where you think, “I’m going home to redo my bathroom” – that’s how the bathroom at U Sukhumvit Bangkok is.
The bathroom with a look to the shower area in the mirror
The bathroom was large. The large shower room – with huge shower heads – was located by itself and with frosted glass into the bedroom.
An amazingly beautiful bathroom where the details were meticulous and nothing was missing.
Nice details in the bathroom
Overall, we had booked a GREAT hotel and room which went far beyond our expectations.
It didn’t take long before the phone rang. At the front desk they had forgotten to tell us that we had been upgraded. We were very pleased.
However, I would like to emphasize that all rooms in the hotel are of a high standard.
The pool area at U Sukhumvit Bangkok
Like everything else at U Sukhumvit Bangkok (affiliate link), the pool area on the 8th floor was also in a class of its own. The red theme could also here be seen on umbrellas and the lovely thick cushions on all the sun beds.
Behind the pool and sun beds, you could order food and drinks at the bar in the cafe area. An area with tables and chairs, small benches and round chill sofas.
In the corner of the cafe held a small library. Here, in addition to finding books others had left behind, guests could also use desktops.
If you just needed a break in the a / c, you had one of the round chill sofas.
U Sukhumvit Bangkok‘s restaurant is called Uzzie and is located on the 1st floor. Unfortunately we only experienced the breakfast buffet – but what an experience. A fantastic buffet with EVERYTHING you can dream of.
I have experienced a lot of breakfast buffets, but rarely have I eaten in a place where everything was as fresh as here.
On our entire trip around Thailand, I got croissants at all the hotels we stayed at. Not once were they freshly baked and crispy, like here.
Everything was fresh and homemade. At the table they took orders on how you wanted your eggs and your coffee.
Fresh, ice-cold milk and juice stood in decorative bottles and tasted wonderful.
From the buffet you could see how the kitchen worked – just as it was in the good old days in Thailand, where you could always see the kitchen.
U Sukhumvit Bangkok is located in a side street of the large Sukhumvit Road. Sukhumvit Road is one of Bangkok’s main arteries and major shopping streets.
On Sukhumvit Road you will find everything from major shopping centers, markets and theaters, to street vendors, restaurants and bars with “happy” girls.
Markets and street food on Sukhumvit Road
The street is long, busy and with several floors of traffic.
From the hotel there are approx. 10 minutes walk before reaching Sukhumvit Road. The great advantage of having to walk the 10 minutes is that the hotel is in no way bothered by the noise of Sukhumvit Road. The hotel is peaceful and only with other hotels and private properties as neighbors.
The distance to Suvarnabhumi airport from U Sukhumvit Bangkok is approx. 45 minutes drive – outside the worst rush hour.
- 24 hour policy
- Restaurant, pool bar & cafe (lounge)
- Library & desktop access
- 24-hour reception
- Laundry service
- Free Wi-Fi
- Smoking areas
Our Review of U Sukhumvit Bangkok
I don’t think you’re in doubt – we loved U Sukhumvit Bangkok. If you want to stay in a really nice hotel with the best facilities, close to shopping and maybe have a late flight – definitely book U Sukhumvit Bangkok.
We will be back for sure.
Note: I would not recommend the hotel to families with small children – if they want to use the pool – the pool is approx. 1.5 m deep.
