There are many beautiful places in Thailand. Whether you are into partying and wild activities, or nature, secluded places and deserted beaches, Thailand has it all.

Thailand is the 50th largest country in the world and the 12th largest country in Asia – so there is plenty of room for everyone.

If you haven’t yet decided where to go, here is a description of the areas.

Thailand’s 6 regions

Thailand is divided into 6 regions, each of which has its own to offer.

Northern Thailand

In northern Thailand, it is magnificent mountain ranges that dominate the landscape. From here most of the sources of the many rivers come.

The northern region is mainly visited by nature lovers who seek rainforest adventure with hiking trails, waterfalls overnight in tree tops, and visits to the local factories and small villages.

Northeast Thailand

In northeastern Thailand you will find the beautiful highlands with the many rice terraces. Among other things, this is where the Jasmin rice comes from and is exported to most of the world.

Along the Mekong River that runs through the area are several popular areas such as Amphoe Chiang Khan in Loei Province, Tha Sadet Market in Nong Khai Province, Indochina Market in Mukdahan Province and Sam Pan Bok Grand Canyon in Ubon Ratchathani Province.

Central Thailand

In Central Thailand, the river Chao Phraya runs. In addition to being important to the many rice fields and agriculture, the river also has great significance for Thailand’s history.

Of exciting sights you will find ancient historical temples such as Bang Pa-in Royal Palace and Bang Sai Royal Folk Center in Ayutthaya Province, as well as Koh Kret in Nonthaburi Province.

If you want to shop, explore Bangkok‘s many local markets, such as Wang Lang Market, Tha Phra Chan Market, Saphan Phut Night Market andAsiatique Night Market.

South Thailand

In Southern Thailand, you will find a myriad of beautiful beaches and islands

Some of the best known are Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lipe and Koh Tao etc.

Southern Thailand is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Thailand.

Eastern Thailand

Half of Eastern Thailand consists of mountains, the other half is sea.

In this part of Thailand, you won’t find many provinces, but plenty of exciting sights and beautiful places to visit.

The best known islands and areas on this side of Thailand are Koh Samed, Koh Chang, Koh Mak, Koh Lan, Koh Si Chang, Bang Saen Beach, Pattaya, Jomtien Beach, Laem Mae Phim Beach and Mae Ram Phueng Beach.

Western Thailand

Western Thailand is mountainous with forests, waterfalls and dams. Here you’ll find a number of nice national parks.

If you are into breathtaking scenery then this area includes countless attractions such as Thong Pha Phum National Park, Srinakarin Dam, Vajiralongkorn Dam, Sai Yok Noi Waterfall and many, many more.
