Great hotel in Midtown
Review of StayPineapple in New York
It took oceans of time to find a hotel in New York. If you haven’t been to NYC before, it’s almost unmanageable. There are many hotels to choose from, but most reviews are as poor as prices are soaring. And when you dont know the areas, it’s difficult to assess where to stay.
My criteria was that the hotel should be located within walking distance to Times Square and Central Park, and the cost of 5 nights shouldn’t exceed $ 900
The choice fell on StayPineapple, which was in Midtown, had good reviews and a price of nearly $ 900 for 5 days. At Hotels.com I had Rewards from previous nights, so from the price I could deduct another $ 300
Early in the evening I arrived at the hotel with my “shared shuttle” from the JFK airport. The lobby and reception were really nice and the staff sweet and welcoming. The check-in went fast and I was allocated a room on the 23rd floor (I had asked for a room high up – I got it).
Even before I got to my room, I could clearly feel that my choice of hotel was right in the eye. Every detail was perfect – lobby, reception, elevator and the welcoming people.
I was very excited about the room, for most comments on hotel rooms in NYC are that they are very small and worn.
The room was super nice. A large and very comfortable bed with delicious duvets and linens. Bedside table on each side of the bed, where a worktop could be pulled out and used as a desk.
A wardrobe with hangers and safety box with plenty of room for, among other things, a laptop. 3 slightly smaller cupboards, where in one of them there was a coffee / tea brew with capsules, as well as 2 bottles of water.
Large 50″ flat screen with all kind of American channels. The window could be opened and there were blackout curtains.
Also the bathroom was good, with spacious shower and large shower head. Beautiful ceramic sink and thick luxury towels.
The room had it all and I couldn’t put a finger on anything. There were many good details and I loved the sign to hang on the door.
My booking was without breakfast – as it is at most hotels – but every morning from 7.00am there was coffee and pastry at the reception. Again around 4 pm muffins, coffee and juice were offered.
The staff were very helpful with recommendations, printing of boarding pass, booking of shuttle etc. and helping as much as they could.
There are 24 hours of staffing. You have to check-out at 12 noon, but if you leave later, you have the opportunity to have your luggage stored.
I have only good words to say about StayPineapple, and will definitely book the hotel next time I travel to NYC.
